To the Shores of Hell
Marine
Maj. Greg Donahue anxiously awaits orders to Vietnam because his brother
Gary, a physician, has been captured by the Vietcong. Donahue receives
permission from his superiors to help his brother; and, aided by Sgt.
Bill Gabreski, French priest Jacques Bourget, and Mic Phin, a Vietnamese.
Donahue makes his way through the jungle to the abandoned French garrison
where his brother is being held.
Gabreski is killed in an ambush, and though Mic Phin is seriously
wounded by a booby-trap, he nevertheless enters the camp, helps Gary
escape, and takes him to his brother and Bourget. Soon afterwards,
the party is attacked by guerrillas, but a reconnaissance Marine helicopter
gives Donahue and the others enough support to stage a fight.
With rescue only minutes away, the party is assaulted, and both Bourget
and Mic Phin are killed. As the Donahue brothers are taken away in
the helicopter, they notice that friendly Vietnamese soldiers are
taking precautions to ensure proper burial of their comrades.
