East of Kilimanjaro
Roving
camera reporter Marsh Conners is assigned to strife-torn Africa to
photograph part of the Cold War. The West has sent a task force of
scientists in an attempt to stamp out an epidemic affecting the cattle
of the regions surrounding Mount Kilimanjaro. Conners meets and falls
in love with Dr. Marie Avedon, who is, along with Dr. Trino, the head
bacteriologist, has convinced the Masai of the need for cattle inoculation.
The authorities get white hunter Kris Aschan to pen up the big game
for the tests.
Various species of African wildlife are rounded up by lasso. The Masai
rebel and cause a stampede when zebras, sacred to their tribe, are
captured and penned up. All these animals must be captured and destroyed
as a precaution. A giant vulture, shot down on a hunch, proves to
be the virus carrier. Connors leaves, knowing that Marie will be happier
with Dr. Trino.
